The pumpkin secret

Well the pumpkin we have in our logo has a piece of history and a little secret...

In 2007, a few monthes before we founded Bio Desafios, Lda., the company behind Mercearia Bio, I had to go and look for pumpkins for our logo.

On a visit to Portimão market, still the old building, in the very same place where we now have the new market, after asking a few of the fresh produce selling points I met Dª Fátima.

I became aware Dª Fátima was a Producer of fresh vegetables at Vale das Hortas, in Portimão, and, after explaining the purpose of my visit - finding the right pumpkin - she invited me to visit her vegetables garden.

And off I went looking for Dª Fátima's farm, where I found many pumpkins, all of which huge.

I picked 3, that Dª Fátima lend me, she did not sell them. They were too big.

The borrowed pumpkins travelled to Faro, to be more precise to Conceição de Faro, where my friends Jorge and Elleanor had at the time their photographic studio.

We then did the photo session, with the precious know how of Pinkimaging that has now given way to Santosphotography, for one of the chosen pumpkins after which I have taken the pumpkins back, whole and safe to Dª Fátima, that in the end did not even charge the pumpkins rental fee.

The pumpkin secret - the pumpkin was not organic!
