|beet found in rio de janeiro. beetroot is rich in sugars. when natural condition, the beet is kept for up to a week if kept in a cool, shaded place. beet is also used as an alternative fuel in europe, being used for the preparation of etanol.a beet is recommended for anemia situations, due to the richness in iron and folic acid. beet leaves have beneficial properties, similar to spinach leaves, both being used in the pharmaceutical industry due to its therapeutic qualities (scrubland et al., 2009). beets have valuable medicinal properties due to their high content of mineral salts, vitamins and carbohydrates (balbach and boadim, 1992). have neutralizing action of acids, helps the formation of red blood cells; to be rich in iron and copper, helps in the production of platelets, promotes muscle strength due to its high concentration of potassium and manganese, strengthens tendons and has anti-inflammatory action (balbach and boadim, 1992). it strengthens the heart, increases blood circulation, purifies the blood. when used along with the carrot acts on the hormonal regulation (pitchford. 2002). glutamine is the most abundant free amino acid in plasma and muscle tissue, and is also found in high concentrations in other body tissues (cruzat; petry; tirapegui, 2009). is an amino acid important for cell growth and differentiation, carbon chain of transport between the bodies and providing energy to rapidly proliferating cells, such as enterocytes and cells of the immune system (pacific et al., 2005) glutamine is capable to interfere in the functioning of the immune system cells, it is an important energy source for macrophages, lymphocytes and other immune cells (leandro et al., 2006). doctors recommend consuming it raw, grated in salad. if you prefer to eat it cooked, the suggestion is to cook it whole, unpeeled and with 5 cm of the stalk, adding two tablespoons of vinegar in the water to keep intact the color red.
