the leeks are approximately 25 cm in length and 3 to 5 cm in diameter. present a related odor emanating flavor, a feature that reminds the shallots, but sweeter and more subtle. the edible part is the clear white and green part of the stem, whose early part can be eaten, but there as the leek age, acquires a light flavor of wood.
